I met my goal of finishing the Raccoon for the Year in the Woods last week. I actually finished it last Sunday evening. And then I immediately started on the next animal which is the Ferret.
Here’s a picture of the three of them side by side.
And of course, I also ordered the supplies I need for the next set of 3. They are coming from 123 Stitch in the States, so it will likely be another week or 2 before they get here. I ordinarily like to order from Canadian suppliers, but the price of $4.95 ...

The Raccoon from the Year in the Woods series is so very close to being finished. I have to add the detail in his legs and then the paws. After that there are some details to finish on the flowers and a few doo dads to add and it’s done. I’m thinking by this time next week I should have the Ferret started. Which also means that I can order the supplies that I need for the next set of 3, which is always a lot of fun, the planning, the organizing, the ordering and the anticipation.
I ...
read more I have managed to get in a lot of slow stitching time this past week. The Raccoon from The Year in the Woods series is starting to get quite the personality.
I’m thinking that, if I can continue at this same pace, he might be done in the next couple of weeks and then I can start the Ferret. I have given myself the goal of being able to order supplies for the next 3 animals once I start the Ferret. I think I have decided to substitute a chipmunk from the second Year in the Woods series for ...
It’s our grand daughter’s birthday party day today, so this is going to be a quick post. I have cup cakes to bake and decorate. I have made some more progress on the Raccoon from the Year in the Woods stitchery group.
The top of his back is almost finished. I will continue to add to it as time allows. I’ll link up to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching and then get to those cup cakes.

I’ve made quite a lot of progress on the Raccoon for the Year in the Woods piece this past week. All the greenery is finished and all the pink flowers are stitched in place.
Some of those still need the finishing details and the top left flower needs its brown stem. I have finally started on the body of the raccoon. In addition to this, I did a little hand sewing on some buttons. Our grand-daughter is having a birthday next week and is having a cowgirl themed birthday party. So I’ve decided to make her some cowgirl ...
I finished doing the edging on my Connections quilt. It is officially finished and now being used.
It’s not a great picture, unfortunately, but space to lay out quilts is in short supply here. We are expecting some nasty winter weather today and into tomorrow. The warning says freezing rain. So far, the radar is showing snow approaching rather than the freezing rain. Either way, it is a great day to stay in and keep warm and do hand stitching. Since connections is finished, I’m back to working on the Raccoon from The Year in the Woods series ...
I’m steadily working on the Raccoon from The Year in the Woods series. I’d forgotten how much I enjoy these. It is such a relaxing stitch. I love the texture in the animals.
And, I have discovered that there is a second series of these animals. But, I will resist, other than maybe substituting something for the eagle that will be coming up for maybe something a bit more Canadian. But I have lots of time before I have to decide that. The Eagle is #7 and the Raccoon is #4 in this series.
I’ll link up ...
read more Cross stitching has again grabbed my attention, to the exclusion of all other hand stitching, at the moment at least. I did lots on the Raccoon. The tail is complete and I’m working my way across the bottom in an attempt to get all the green stitched.
However, I’m getting a little tired of the green, so I may start on the pink for the flowers and the brown for the stems just for a little variety.
I’ll link up to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching.

In my slow stitching this week I was able to complete a couple of things. All the stitching for our grand-daughter’s stocking is finished.
I still need to sew it all together, but that can all be accomplished on the sewing machine. The other thing I finished is the Jack Rabbit for The Year in the Woods stitchery.
I’ve gridded out the next section and gotten a small start which will be the Raccoon.
We received almost a foot of snow over night and it is still coming down, so we decided to stay home from church. That ...
